Hello 2019! Santa is back to the North-pole, we celebrated a new Floral year and now it is time for Tulips!

This month’s Floral trend mood board includes many bright Spring colours to prepare you for the next season!

TULIP THE FLOWER OF THE MONTH JANUARY!

Fresh green leaves, unique shapes and beautiful colours: the Tulip (Tulipa). She is the ideal kick starter of the year to get a little Spring in the house. Because the bulbs need more time outside to blossom, tulips that are grown as cut flowers are specially treated. The grower gives the bulbs an artificial Winter period after which they think in the greenhouse at higher temperatures that it is spring and start to bloom. The bulbs are actually fooled and ‘drawn’ in bloom in the greenhouse so that both florist and consumer can enjoy these spring flowers early.

PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION TIPS FOR YOUR SHOP

1# COLOUR BLOCKING
Make colour blocks with packs of Tulips on the shelf or on your shop floor and give special types a special place, to underline that these are specialties.

2# CHOOSE YOUR TREND
This year’s trend is either very classic or very modern arranging. For example, think of the atmosphere of an old still life: deep, saturated colours in a pot or a Tulip vase. The modern style is full of fun twists: Tulips that just look over the edge of the dense vase. Or place the Tulips so deep in a transparent vase that it almost looks like a terrarium.

3# ATTRACT NEW & YOUNG CUSTOMERS
Because of their smooth stems, Tulips are ideal ‘entry flowers’ for the new target groups Millennials and Centennials who are not familiar with taking of the leaves and thorns. Remove a part of the green leaves and present the Tulips individually in small bottles and glasses, for an Instagram-worthy presentation for this new, interesting target group.

JANUARY’S COLOUR PALETTE

Start the year fresh with new colours and of course… Living Coral the Pantone colour of the year! The palette has a nice combination of a buttery white with a light yellow. They represent the soft winter sun perfectly. Living Coral and Pressed Rose give the whole a female touch and the bit of warm romance, that we all need on a cold wintery day! The dark green moss colour contrasts nicely with the soft lighter colours, without being too dominant.

PANTONE 11-0106 Sweet Corn

Sweet Corn tempts with its soft and buttery attitude.

PANTONE 12-0742 Lemon Verbena

Light and sunny, Lemon Verbena is pleasingly cheerful.

PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral

Living Coral is an affable and animating shade whose golden undertone gives it a softer edge.

PANTONE 15-1619 Pressed Rose

The blushing Pressed Rose fills us with thoughts of romance and sentimentality.

PANTONE 18-0416 Terrarium Moss

Terrarium Moss conjures up thoughts of flourishing foliage and the physical beauty in the natural world.
