The charming Peony conquers the heart of flower lovers every year thanks to its wonderful scent and lush look. This seasonal flower is the indication of summer. The Peony’s availability period is  limited and therefore this flower is much sought after!

To celebrate this pretty flower, the Peony is marked as June’s Flower of the Month. Therefore we placed this sunny flower in our Flower Pitch for everybody to enjoy the new month.

THE PEONY’S ORIGIN

In 1784 the Peony found her way to Europe from China. In those days, the Peony was not only cultivated for her flowers, but also for her special roots. If we must believe the Chinese, the Peony can be used to reduce medical issues, such as reducing fever and clot blood.

SYMBOLISM OF THE PEONY

The Peony is a popular guest at weddings, not only because of her good looks but also for her symbolism. Her symbolism fits in well with any wedding because she represents love, happiness and health. But of course this is not the only occasion for which you can use the Peony; surely everybody enjoys a big bunch of floral positivity! Place a big bunch of different Peonies on your counter in your shop to attract customers.

THE BEST PEONIES FROM MYPEONY SOCIETY

The MyPeony is a group of growers that bundle their forces to produce high-quality Peonies. They work together to share their knowledge and experience to optimize the Peony breeding process. To celebrate the new peony season, MyPeony created a pop-up store in the centre of Amsterdam. Last weekend, we checked out the store to see the Peony at her best.

The pop-up store was wonderfully decorated with Paeonia everywhere! The highlight of the shop was a wall fully covered with Peonies. A perfect background for many pictures.

APPRECIATE YOUR PEONIES TO THE FULLEST WITH THESE TIPS

The Paeonia begins as small bud, but at the end of the week she will have fully blossomed into a beautiful large flower. Below you can find a step-by-step plan to take care of your Peonies:

1. Use a sharp knife to diagonally cut the stems approximately two to five centimetres from each stem’s bottom edge.
2. Use a clean vase and fresh water.
3. Add Chrysal flower food to the water to ensure a longer vase life.
4. Don’t place the flowers in direct sunlight or close to a fruit bowl.
5. Peonies drink a lot, top up the vase when they’re thirsty.
6. Enjoy!

This week it was time for the Dutch Lily Days! During the Dutch Lily Days plenty of exclusive Liliums were presented at the show. Different stories were told about the cultivating new varieties and the latest trends. For example, about cultivating coloured bubs of Liliums when their being cut. This way your customers can enjoy the flowers at an early stage, even before they’re starting to flourish!

Also, the international attendees could take a look in the greenhouses of some Lilium breeders. All in all, they can get a clear image of the whole flower breeding process and get in touch with other breeders and exporters from the industry.

THE OPENING SHOW AT ZABO PLANT

Fourteen breeding companies focused on a colourful Lilium assortment. Many international business relations came together to discuss the latest cultivation trends of the Lilium! In our webshop or app you can check out our current colourful assortment of Liliums.
This year Zabo Plant had the honor for hosting the official opening show of the four-day event. The large Lilium assortment was displayed to check out the new varieties and the ‘golden oldies’.

CNB VISITING US IN SPIRIT OF DUTCH LILY DAYS

The last four days the Lilium received some extra attention. So in the spirit of the these days, CNB visited us for the first time! Around 50 Lilium bulb breeders stopped by at our office to see the next steps in processing Liliums. We started of with a presentation about our company and the Liliums. We finished with a tour through all our logisitc departments. We like to thank CNB for their enthusiasm!

There is also ample choice in terms of colour: the cheerful Peony comes in pale yellow, romantic white, candy pink or dark red. And the fragrance of peonies is particularly appealing and beautifully sweet!

JUNE’S COLOUR PALETTE

After the fresh and light colour palette from May, we add some vibrant summer colours to the mix. Colour changing Peonies like Coral Sunset match these pink, salmon and yellow colours perfectly. Let green flowers of leaves be more prominent in the bouquet to give it a natural field bouquet touch.

Coconut Milk represents the classic mainstay of a white and/or off-white for the Spring 2018 season.
